Sean Burton

Managing Director

I am the Managing Director of Diligent Law Solicitors and a senior Solicitor.

I have lived experience of neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD and OCD), which means that I have clear focus, outstanding attention to detail and excellent recall of important facts. I help a broad range of individuals and businesses with their legal issues. I have a special interest in helping vulnerable clients and those in the neurodivergent community.

I have extensive legal experience: over 20 years in Dispute & Litigation work, e.g. contract disputes, general litigation and care fee disputes; over 12 years in Private Client work, such as Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Estate Planning & Probate; and over 10 years of experience in property law, contract drafting, disability support and commercial work.

Because of my extensive background in dispute work, I always bring a unique perspective and proactive approach to other, more “non-contentious” work, often advising clients how to best avoid potential claims, problems and pitfalls.

I have been the Managing Director of Diligent Law Limited, since it first opened its doors to the public as a Private Legal Services Company in December 2014, before then transitioning to a Solicitors Practice in January 2018. I maintain a keen focus on client care.

I enjoy the outdoors and spending time with my partner, family and friends. I am a bit of a film buff, particularly with movies from the 80s, 90s and noughties!

Carolina Lopes Mendes Batt

Practice Manager

I am the Practice Manager at Diligent Law Solicitors, overseeing the day-to-day management of the firm. I joined the firm in February 2025.

I have a strong background in operations, leadership and business management, with extensive experience in people management, performance improvement, operational efficiency and client service. My role includes practice administration, regulatory compliance, Team management, process improvement, client satisfaction and supporting the continued growth of the firm.

I am business-minded and hold a Bachelor of Laws degree with First Class Honours from Universidade Candido Mendes in Brazil. My legal background, combined with my management experience, helps me support the firm in delivering a responsive, efficient and personable service to clients.

I am fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

I am organised, detail-oriented and collaborative in my approach. I am committed to maintaining high professional standards while helping the Team provide a positive and supportive experience for every client.

I have lived experience of neurodiversity, and part of my role involves supporting and coaching neurodivergent employees, regardless of their position or seniority within the firm.

Outside work, I love to cook and enjoy spending time with my partner, friends and family.

Veronica Plenty

Trainee Solicitor

I am a Trainee Solicitor, supporting our Team across a broad range of legal areas, with a particular focus on Dispute Resolution and Probate.

I joined Diligent Law Solicitors as a Paralegal in August 2025 and started a Training Contract in June 2026. Before joining the firm, I gained valuable experience in Grenadian law and was admitted as an Advocate in Grenada, WI in 2024.

I studied Law at the University of London and later completed a Master of Laws and Legal Practice Course with Distinction at the University of Law. I am currently working towards qualification as a Solicitor in England and Wales, with the aim of becoming dual qualified in Grenada and England & Wales.

My cross-jurisdictional background gives me a broad perspective and helps me provide practical, well-rounded support to clients. I am approachable, friendly and committed to helping clients feel informed, reassured and supported throughout their matter.

Outside work, I enjoy travelling, visiting new places, and reading a good thriller.

Loren-Lily Staples-Mortimore

Legal Secretary / Assistant

I am a Legal Secretary and Legal Assistant, supporting our Team across the firm’s different practice areas.

I studied Law at Goldsmiths, University of London, where I developed a strong interest in the legal profession. I began my legal career in 2024, working with a barristers’ chamber in London, where I gained valuable experience supporting legal teams and clients across a range of matters.

I am organised, detail-oriented and committed to providing efficient, professional support to both clients and colleagues. My academic background in law, combined with my practical experience, has helped me develop a strong understanding of legal procedures, administration and client care.

I take pride in maintaining high standards and contributing positively to the work of the Team.

Outside work, I have a keen interest in Formula 1 and enjoy following the sport throughout the racing season. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family.

Jenny Nguyen

Legal Assistant / Accounts Clerk

I am a Legal Assistant and Accounts Clerk, supporting our Team across a wide range of legal areas. I joined Diligent Law Solicitors in January 2026.

I studied Law and Economics at the University of Kent and look forward to developing my legal career with the firm. I have a particular interest in Immigration Law and enjoy supporting clients as they navigate important legal processes.

I am business-minded and have a strong background in client-facing roles and legal support. I take pride in being organised, detail-oriented and committed to helping clients feel informed, supported and confident.

I am fluent in English, Vietnamese and Mandarin.

My language skills allow me to support clients from diverse backgrounds and help bridge language and cultural barriers throughout their legal journey.

Outside work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends.

Dennis Lopes Mendes Batt

Office Assistant

I am a part-time Office Assistant at Diligent Law Solicitors, providing administrative support to our Team. I joined the firm in February 2025.

I am currently studying A-Levels in History, Geography, Spanish and Classics. I plan to study Archaeology and Ancient History at university, and I have wanted to become an archaeologist since I was six years old.

I am fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish. I also have an interest in Latin and Italian.

Outside work, I enjoy playing football and tennis. I also love spending time with my dog, Max. Max is a Newfoundland, and also the DLS Mascot!
